Who I am..
After graduating from Western Michigan University, I had the privilege of teaching 4th Grade for five years in Southwest Michigan. During that time I did everything I could to engage my students in ways that would positively impact them as a learner and a person. Using technology as a tool in that process became very exciting and important for our class as we explored new ways of communicating, connecting, researching, playing and working together. While teaching I also discovered a passion for helping other teachers to use new tools and methods with their own students, and gained experience as a speaker and a consultant. Earning a Master's Degree in 2010 in Educational Technology helped to solidify my experience with instructional design, professional development and adult learning theory. I am now a full time Educational Technology Consultant with the Jackson County ISD and live with my wife in Metro Detroit. I am also a basketball junkie and former coach, an outdoor-enthusiast and a fan of all Detroit sports!
What I am all about..
I am a passionate lifelong learner, energized by the possibilities of today's technologies to transform education for the better. I eagerly pursue the knowledge, skills and experiences that allow me to innovate in the classroom and help others do the same. Empowering teachers and students with opportunities for 21st Century teaching and learning is my daily goal.
Teachers need to be supported to make positive change in their practices through inspired, practical and sustainable guidance. Adopting technology, revising pedagogy and moving over to let students take control of their own learning can be an intimidating process that requires innovative leadership.
