The end of August is not usually something teachers are looking forward to at the end of May.... but after submitting my session descriptions for this August 25th event, I am already getting excited!  They have assembled a great line-up of keynote presenters, including people like Rushton Hurley & Steve Dembo, who I have heard present at MACUL.  I will present two times, on topics that I feel will resonate with both classroom teachers and those in leadership positions in their district because of their "real-world" applications.

Session 1: Lessons from a wanna-be 1:1 elementary classroom: Teaching & Learning with under 5 devices.
How can 25 students share a few classroom computers and an iOS device or two? How can those tools be a consistent part of the learning process?  That was this teacher's challenge in his 4th grade classroom. See what he learned about student engagement & how even young students can take ownership over curricular interventions, enrichment & extensions with internet access and Apps.  Make this the year where the learning is in their hands!

Session 2Must-have web tools and apps for engagement & creativity in an elementary classroom.
Every inch of your curriculum can provide a unique opportunity for students to learn using 21st Century tools. Whether in a lab, on a netbook or with an iPad, these free or low cost resources are a natural fit for your your digital learners.  See what has been proven to work in Brad's 4th grade classroom and leave with a clear sense of the BEST sites or apps to invest your time in this year. You will be amazed at what your students can do!

I know that this will be a fun way to kick-off the school year- getting to meet lots of amazing educators and hear about innovative ways technology is helping to change our teaching & learning practices for the better. I look forward to the conversations and hope that you can attend!
